History of Community State Bank

Community State Bank opened its doors for business on November 3^rd 1980 to meet the needs of the people of Galva and the surrounding communities. The Bank was organized by local businessmen and started with $1,000,000 in stock that was sold to 240 local area investors.

The Bank has grown steadily over the years, and after serving Galva and the surrounding communities out of a temporary facility for over 15 years, the Bank opened its permanent full service facility in Galva on July 29, 1996.  The new facility features a beautiful open lobby, safety deposit boxes, standup and sit-down teller stations and a multi-lane drive-up complete with an ATM machine.

On June 30, 1997 Community State Bank opened an additional office in Kewanee and over the past several years, the Kewanee office has become an extremely valuable part of the organization.      

In 2001, the Bank opened its permanent facility in Kewanee.  The new facility has all of the same features as the facility in Galva.

Also in 2001, the Bank acquired Cromien Insurance.  In the short period of time that the Bank has owned the agency, it has become a valuable part of our organization.

Community State Bank has also added investment services to its operation.  Mary Kay North is the financial advisor.  CSB Investment Services offers investment products through Investment Centers of America.   

In September of 2004, the Bank acquired Whaples and Farmers State Bank in Neponset.  

In October of 2006, the Bank acquired Citizens National Bank in Galva, giving CSB its fourth location.  Both Galva locations have drive-up ATM's,  the only drive-up ATM's in Galva.

In June of 2007, the Bank opened its fifth office at 300 North Main Street in downtown Kewanee.  We are the only bank in the area that offers inside lobby banking, drive through services and  drive-up ATM's on both the north side and south side of Kewanee.  

Now over 25 years old, the Bank has grown to over $70,000,000 and has become a valuable part of the communities that it serves.
